Lakshmi is the Goddess of Wealth, revered by all businessmen and welcome always.
Alakhsmi is her twin, the Goddess of Poverty, shunned by all.
Lakshmi likes the pure and the sweet.
Alakshmi prefers the base and the bitter.
To make sure Alakshmi does not enter the business house (or car), lemon and chillies are offered to her at the door.
She consumes them and goes away happy.
