Namaste: Namah (bow) + Te (to you)

“Namaste” “Namaskaram” “Namaskar” is the traditional greeting. At its root, the salutation means “I recognise your existence as an equal.”

The namaskar may have vanished from the Board Room, being replaced by the business handshake, but in smaller towns or while greeting strangers or the opposite sex, it is a safer way of greeting!
